GPOYW: Proof that I am actually helping work on The New House Edition
I am deeply disappointed by the gross mischaracterizations of the strategy, its...
– Susan G. Komen for the Cure Vice President for Public Policy Karen Handel • Resigning, and admitting her role in the Planned Parenthood saga that led to a high-profile reversal last week. Handel was long the target of criticism, as she had previously run for office in Georgia on an anti-Planned...

– Heft, Liz Moore
These words punched me straight in the gut.
Over the course of my life I have been lucky enough to meet several people (some have left, others have stuck around) with whom I have shared a connection that was recognized immediately. Soul mates, if you will. But not in the...

Spinster Aunt on Komen Khaos
rodmanstreet:
phillyjourno:
Man do I love Spinster Aunt’s screeds on the excellent I Blame the Patriarchy. Today’s post “Komen Sucks, Pt. 47” is no exception.
“Listen everyone, Komen doesn’t prevent cancer, and Komen doesn’t pay for breast cancer treatment. It “raises awareness” through “early detection” and funds “research” focused on pharmaceutical cures for cancers that many of Komen’s...

Giving it to you staight
As we rapidly approach the, unfathomable to me, one year “anniversary” of my Dad’s death, I feel no closer to “healing” than I did the day he died. In fact, I would venture to say, I feel further from it than I did that day. That day I rationalized the fact that he was no longer in pain, no longer suffering, no longer on this incredibly unfair journey, but in a better...

I need inspiration for kitchen counter tops that, once installed, won’t have us only able to afford to eat top ramen off of them!

simplejulie said: I love the rug, where did you get it? Also, what color are the walls?
Sorry this took so long for me to answer. The rug we got off of overstock and the walls are Kelly Moore waterfall, at least I’m pretty sure that is what it is. The paint can is Kelly Moore but…

Help, my ass!
So, I went to Portland a couple weeks ago to “help” a friend start planning her wedding. We went to the Portland Bridal Show, which was pretty sad for Portland being such a great city! We went with her Mom, MOH (she’s only having one bridesmaid…fine by me!) and her to-be Aunt-in-law.
Of course, I told her MOH that I would “HELP” her with ideas and planning for...

Monday Check-In
Obsessing over: How much work I have to do (450 emails, thank you very much!) since I have been out of the office for 7 days due to vacation, snow and this terrible, no good, very bad cold!
Working on: All of the work
Thinking about: How many minutes until I can go home and sleep!
Anticipating: The great cold of 2012 being over and getting back to the land of the living!

So much to process, write and think about my trip back East. It was amazing. Sure, I lost my wallet and came back with a wicked sinus infection but the amazing memories I have are worth it.
More to come.
We were twinsies on the trip, why stop now? I may not have lost my wallet, thank the lawd, but everything else is true…great trip, great friends, great memories!
